Walking in Kauai’s Wonderland

Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou - Here Comes Your Holiday Season in Paradise!

Aloha! – and WOW! Can you believe we are already nearing the completion of 2015? This year has flown by and now is a great time for all of us to start visualizing the great things we will accomplish in 2016. For us, the season begins with “Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!” That’s how we say “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” here on Kauai – and this holiday season, all of our guests and Friends are in for a real treat!  We are talking about days and nights of FUN and celebration throughout the island – with a few special visits by Santa Claus himself!

Yes, the weather has cooled off on the mainland and here on the Garden Island, the sun is shining brightly in the beautiful blue sky. It is time for spending time outdoors, checking out Hanapepe Art night, having Kauai-fresh meals, and taking a leisurely stroll along the Royal Coconut Coast’s multipurpose path. Think about all the FUN you can have building sandcastles in the golden sand while palm trees dot the skies around you. Mmmmm! How great would it be to run down to the beach and put our toes in the sand right now?!

And take a look!  Looks like Santa is already taking a pre-Christmas South Shore ride on his surfboard! Just goes to show us: we all deserve a holiday in the sun and right now, Kauai Vacation Rentals & Real Estate, Inc is ready to help you put your next trip to the Garden Island into your calendar. With 200+ accommodations waiting for you at our website, NOW is a great time to get your plans started!  :- )

‘Tis the season to add an exclamation mark on FUN! in your life this Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, and New Year’s season – so let’s take a look at all the great things to do on Kauai during this wonderful time of the year!

Walking in Kauai’s Wonderland!

Get ready for the vacation you have always dreamed of! Days of golf, afternoons having a massage, and evenings exploring great restaurants all over the Island. The weather on Kauai feels great! If you are in the mood for a scenic drive, head towards the main highway and keep an eye out for waterfalls, ocean vistas, rainbows, and lush landscapes all around you. And just wait until you feel the gentle tropical breeze blowing through your hair. It feels wonderful!  :- )

Get into the Groove with the Annual Festival of Lights!

The 19th Annual Festival of Lights continues this month on Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights, and also on Christmas Eve and December 26th, from 6 – 8 PM at the Kauai Historic County Building in Lihue! The annual event is a Fun tradition where you can see some pretty cool ornaments made by our own local legend, Auntie Josie Chansky
The Festival of Lights began at Auntie Josie’s home over 50 years ago on Oahu before it moved to Kauai in 1996.  Local artist Elizabeth Freeman bought all of Chansky’s displays and donated them to the County of Kauai. The County of Kauai, the Hawaii Tourism Authority, and the Friends of the Festival of Lights sponsor this year’s exhibition.

Have you ever seen a Christmas tree made of 7,500 green toothpicks? How about holiday wreaths made of egg cartons and soda cans? How about decorations constructed with seed pods, plastic 6-pack holders, Spam cans, bottle caps, antique IBM punch cards, or a chandelier fashioned from wire coat hangers?!!  Wow! Auntie Josie sure was creative – and every weekend in December, you can see all her treasures, plus plenty of local crafts created by Kauai artisans.

The Festival of Lights is a beautiful reflection of Aloha and a great way to spend time outdoors at night, amidst the dazzling color of lights at Kauai’s Historic County Building. And, the FREE event is FUN for the whole family. Are you excited to see the show? Then we will see you there! Click here to get more information!
