Another option is the Raindrop Therapy Massage, where you “Feel the pitter patter of pure essential oils that are dropped onto your spine and massaged into your skin, slowly and soothingly. Warm stones are then placed on your back to assist “in the absorption of these therapeutic oils which aide in the structural realignment and energy of the spine.” A full body massage follows, taking you to a deeper sense of peace. Friday June 27th
Come on down to the Kauai Beach Resort Jasmine Ball Room at 7 PM to see Jimmy Borges & Betty Loo Taylor and Ken Emerson and Will Bernard!
Hawaii's premier jazz performer Jimmy Borges, 74, has seen more and lived more than most. He also knows more people, from all walks of life – the famous, the infamous, great musicians and singers.
Betty Loo Taylor, otherwise known as "Lady Fingers," is known as a unique, a full orchestra, an icon, a rascal, a character... oh yes, a Chinese-American Jazz Musician.
Will Bernard broke out as a bandleader in 1998 with the release of Medicine Hat, showcasing his expert chops and flair for funky, bottom-heavy soul-jazz. He followed up with two self-produced albums and earned a Grammy® nomination in Best Contemporary Jazz for his 2007 album, Party Hats.
Hawaiian island bred guitarist Ken Emerson has carved out a dual-career between traditional Hawaiian music and vintage American jazz & blues. Ken has maintained a long standing as a blues and jazz guitarist touring with artists Charlie Musselwhite, Elvin Bishop & Norton Buffalo, and New Orleans stride pianist David Paquette. Ken was a featured performer on Hawaii's first Grammy album "Slack Key Guitar" and also on jazz/rock icon Donald Fagen's Grammy winning "Morph the Cat" album.
Saturday June 28th
Saturday is the festival’s grand finale at Kauai Lagoons, with Diane Schuur, Mississippi Heat, and Swing Shift!
Vocalist/pianist Diane Schuur is as eclectic as she is brilliant. A longtime disciple of Dinah Washington and other legendary jazz singers of the '40s and '50s, Schuur has built a stellar career by embracing not only the jazz of her parents' generation, but also the pop music of her own youth during the late 1950s and '60s. In a recording career that spans nearly three decades – and includes two Grammy Awards and three Grammy nominations – Schuur's music has explored nearly every corner of the 20th century American musical landscape.
Come feel the Mississippi Heat: traditional blues with a unique sound!
As band leader and composer, Pierre's vision has never wavered since he founded his band in 1991. His mantra is clear and focused. The band has always had an ensemble sound: all musicians are featured and welcome to contribute on stage and on recordings. His music is traditional because it is steeped in Chicago's golden sounds of the 1950's, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Jimmy Rogers, all the great harp players... Big and Little Walter, The Sonny Boy Williamsons, Junior Wells, George Smith, and many extraordinary contemporaries such as Kim Wilson, Rod Piazza and Paul deLay.
Saturday at the Red Clay Jazz Festival is off the charts, and tickets are still available now!
