Kauai Hawaiian Luaus

King Kamehameha II established the first Hawaiian luau as an event where men and women could celebrate with food, song, and joy. Relive that magic and Enjoy a luau from The Smith Family Luau, the Luau Kalamaku, and the Kauai Luau at the Grand Hyatt. Each treats you to a feast, Polynesian dances, and the history of the Hawaiian people. Depending on which of our vacation accommodations you are staying at, find the one closest to you – or indulge yourself and try them all!
Once you have celebrated Kauai in a ceremony of joy, what else can we throw your way to give you the ultimate Spa Lounger experience?

Kauai's Hindu Monastery
Kauai Aadheenam, also known as Kauai's Hindu Monastery, is a traditional South-Indian style monastery-temple complex nestled under a sacred volcano. Painted with waterfalls, rainbows, jungles, and flowers; this is a true place of peace. Here, the sounds of the world fade away until all that's left is the flowing river, singing birds, rippling leaves, and the resounding echo of the soul.

The monastery is located in Kapaa and a visit to their website provides directions and additional information. The front area of the monastery, up to the private temple entry wall and gate leading to Kadavul Hindu Temple,  is open from 9:00 AM until noon. All are welcome to meditate under the awesome banyan tree and explore the large information panels in the Banyan Mandapam, which tell about the monastery and the Hindu religion.
The Kadavul Hindu Temple and the monastery grounds surrounding it are private, due to their presence within a traditional Saivite aadheenam or monastery/temple complex. To protect the sanctity of the temple ceremony, only visitors who wish to worship at the traditional 9:00 AM temple ceremony (Siva puja) are welcome to enter the inner gate leading to the temple before 10:30 AM. Visitors who do not wish to participate in the worship are welcome to enter this area from 10:30 AM until noon.
